On the way to go vote:

Charly: Mommy, I'm a girl. Can girls vote?
Me: Yes, girls can vote. Some women fought very hard to be able to do that, and now we can do it easily.
Charly: So can I vote?
Me: No, you have to be 18, but you can help me vote.
Ridge: I vote
Me: No, baby, you have to be 18.
Cobb: But you aren't 18 Mom
Me: No, but you have to be over 18. I'm 35 so I am over 18.
Cobb: Mom, you aren't 35. You are 36!
(Is it a bad sign that my 5 year old knows my age better than I do??)

Pumpkin Chip Muffins

So we did end up making those muffins today. We substituted chocolate chips instead of cinnamon chips. And we added a shake or two of cinnamon to the batter. They turned out pretty good, but we decided they needed a little bit of icing. We made some homemade butter icing and colored it orange. Cobb and Charly both got great hand workouts sifting the powdered sugar(good for fine motor/handwriting!)

The best part is eating what you created. YUM!

Timmy the Pumpkin

Well, we carved our pumpkin last night! The kids had fun opening it, and cleaning it out. We separated the "guts" and the seeds. After a little bit, Charly went inside to get some wipes so we could have a "cleaning station." We roasted the seeds, and I'm looking for a recipe to use our pumpkin "guts." This could be a possibility and, this site has some pumpkin seed recipes.

After Ridge went to bed (he turned into a little grump at 6:30), Daddy drew some different faces on paper for the big kids to choose. Then they carved it together.

The kids were so proud! They named it Timmy. And Daddy has a special "Timmy Dance" that the kids are still talking about this morning. Maybe we can get that on video?? What do you think?

See how it glows!

Cobb wanted to light it again this morning at 6 a.m. After lighting it, he blew it out right away. He just wanted to show me "how cool" it was.

Spider Hats

We made spider hats today. Cobb's class made them for their Fall party, but Cobb was sick today. So we made them at home instead.

Charly watched Cobb and I make his, and she did the eyes and legs all by herself. Crafty girl!!

The below instructions are directly quoted from familycorner.com. Click on their site for lots of fun ideas.

SPIDER HATS

You will need:

Black and orange construction paper
glue
scissors

Cut eight strips of black paper 1 1/2" x 9" 2. Cut one strip of black paper 2" x 22" (you could substitute two 11" pieces glued together).

Using the picture as a guide, cut the following:

2 Large black circles
2 Medium orange circles
2 Small black circles

Glue orange circle to edge of large black circle. Glue small black circle to edge of orange circle.

Measure the 22" piece around child's head, overlap and glue ends together. Glue the eyes to the hat band with black eyes touching as shown. Fold the leg strips in half. Fold one end of each leg strip back 1". Glue the straight end to the inside edge of the hat band.

Fold and glue the remaining legs. You will have four legs on each side of your hat as shown.

Videos from Oprah

These are two videos that represent what was shown on the Oprah Show... These videos give me an even greater respect for Matt & Ginny and the way they have handled this and honored God along the way. They inspire me.

The Rocket Park

Today we went to this new park that we like to call the Rocket Park.

This was taken from the top:

Yes, I know, it's high! But it's safely built.

Do you see Ridge below?

Yes, that's him climbing to the top. I took the picture then ran up to him. He was fine & didn't need me (so he thought). But I knew better. . .

Will Bozeman (my sister's nephew) was climbing ahead of him.

This is at the top in the cockpit of the rocket:

This is R and Keeley Bozeman (my sister's niece) swinging.

And R driving the twin flyer. . .

Anytime anyone wants to go there and play, we're ready! We loved it. Lots of climbing for C & Ch, and plenty to keep little R busy.

When we got home we had a surprise package from Mimi & Papeaux full of Halloween goodies! Thanks Mom & Dad.

Igniter on Oprah!

"99 Balloons" was shown on Oprah, and Matt & Ginny Mooney appeared via Skype. Click here to see the video on Oprah.com. During the episode, they cut the video down to 4 minutes, but on the website they show the whole thing(6 min.). Oprah saw it for the first time when it was aired on her show. Her reaction:

We are so excited that this amazing story can touch such a large audience. And we are even more excited that some may possibly be touched by Christ's unconditional love no matter what the circumstance.

Pumpkin decorating

Well, today we decorated little pumpkins with foam stickers. To be honest, they were Spring foam stickers, but the kids didn't care. The sun, grass, flowers, & bees made our pumpkins bright and cheery! Charly helped Ridge with his. . .

My Sweet Hubby!

He sent me flowers. The kids and I think it's really cool that it's
in a pumpkin!

Soccer, Candy, & Gutters

Saturdays have become about soccer lately. Cobb did great this morning, and he was very "tuned-in" to the game. Maybe it was because we played first thing in the morning at 9 a.m. But he had a great time because when asked what his "high" was today at dinner, he said soccer. (Ridge did too).

Ridge was a mamma's boy at the game.

And Charly spent most of her time in the stroller.

When we got home, the kids changed into their costumes. We headed to lifetime for our second halloween party. Batman fell asleep in the car on the way.

But that didn't stop him from participating in the fun!

Ridge told everyone he saw, "I ba man!" He was thrilled to see a real live batman!

My kids were definitely on sugar highs when we got home, but that didn't stop me from allowing them to have more. hmmm? bad mom?
They just were SO excited about it. Remember the Fun Dip? R & Ch enjoyed some together outside on this beautiful day.

And we ended the day at Lowes. We went to buy gutters so I can create some book shelves on my playroom wall.

Yes, I did say gutters. Plastic gutters as a matter of fact. I was inspired by Stacey who was inspired by the Small Notebook blog. Here's Stacey with the little guys. Jeff is in NYC with Rob so Stacey has spent the night over at our house the last two nights. It's been fun!

Our 11 hr Day in Dallas

I know you are all curious. . . the pomegranate stains came out. Oxi clean did it's magic.

Anyway, today was a big day! We left at 8:30 a.m. this morning and returned at 7 p.m.

Charly had her first, real ballet clinic at Dancing Angels. She was so excited this morning that she woke up at 5. (Next time, I may wait to tell her about ballet til the morning of). Here are some pics.
We arrived. New place, new faces.

And she went right in. . .

She waved goodbye.

Afterwards, Charly & Emmy McGee posed for a pic

While Charly was at Dance Clinic, Cobb hung out with Mac. They went to the Arboretum and had a picnic. He had a great time! Thanks Carrie!

Ridge & I went to Northpark mall with Stacey & Bennett Parker. When we pulled up to Northpark, he said, "NoPark! YEAH!." You would think that we go there every week or every other week at least, but no. We hardly ever go. My observant kid also points out chic fil a every time we pass it. That, however, does not surprise me since it is a frequent stop for this Thomas household.

Anyway, it was a very produtive mall trip for me. I was able to buy one Christmas gift for my nephew, and I spent my Northpark Gold that my sweet husband had given me this summer. Yeah for new clothes!

After picking up Charly, we headed to my MIL's house. She took care of my wee ones while I went to the doctor for my B12 shot. As of tomorrow, I am going to start daily oral pills to see how I do on those instead of the shots.

Carrie Dishman and her kids were still at Martha's when I arrived. So we chatted and the kids played. Charly & Liza were pretending to be babies,

And the boys played a computer game.

Ridge hung out with Pops(possibly b/c he was dishing out candy).

Missy's kids showed up around 4, so the cousins played for a long while, we stayed for pizza, then headed home. I had to stop and fill a perscription, so the kids fell asleep in the car. It was a long, fun-filled day for my wee ones.
